Research, development and technical objectives

To execute the test program for the low level tests of the test pyramid (from level 4 to 6) to validate the industrial/design concept, materials and processes feasibility of the Rear Fuselage and Empennage.

To design and manufacture the test benches to complete test performance phase.

To incorporate and use innovative solutions, methodologies and approaches in the performance of the test campaign, from coupons up to detail level.

Objectives contributing to CLEAN SKY 2 Work Programme

To contribute to the integration of the most fuel-efficient propulsion concepts into compatible airframe configurations and concepts targeting next generation short and medium range aircraft at “LPA Platform 1: Advanced Engine and Aircraft Configuration”.

To contribute to the validation of the Advanced Rear End (ARE) demonstrator regarding the feasibility of novel design concepts, materials and processes aimed at “LPA-IADP’ WP1.2: Advanced Engine Integration Driven Fuselage”.

To bring measurable reduction of environmental impact towards the long-term goals of reducing CO2 and NOx.

To contribute to increase energy efficiency in commercial aviation. The reduction of energy consumption in aviation leads to high social, environmental and economic benefits and will ensure its sustainability.

To contribute reducing aircraft weight by validating novel design concepts, materials and processes which allow to obtain a lighter weight rear end.

To improve European Competitiveness through the know-how generated in the implementation of new testing methodologies which enables to reduce testing costs and increase accuracy.
